As an RIA, we work tirelessly for the client’s best interest, not ours. Unlike brokerage firms, which may operate under different regulatory standard and often offer proprietary products, we are committed to avoiding conflicts of interest that can arise from incentive-driven or commission-based structures.  ATON is a Registered Investment Advisory firm, and we do not act as brokers, ensuring our interests remain fully aligned with those of our clients. Our sole focus is serving as an RIA, which we believe provides the clearest path to  unbiased, client-centered advice. We call it the RIA Way to your destination.

Establishing a registered investment advisor (RIA) firm in Puerto Rico was the idea of Marko Rendic while he studied for the CFA® almost a decade ago. He felt that his clients in Puerto Rico and the United States, had gotten tired of the traditional firms, specifically broker dealers, and were looking for alternative firms to help them invest for their future. He opened ATON FINANCIAL LLC to address their needs in August 2014. The firm has expanded rapidly since then and now includes a team with broad experience and one thing in common: a passion for helping our clients succeed.

What is a Fiduciary?

Obligated and Dedicated to Serve Clients First

ATON FINANCIAL stresses that it meets the legal requirements of being a fiduciary. This means we always put clients’ interest above our own benefit and disclose any potential conflicts when selling products. We can do this unlike some firms because we are privately owned rather than being held by a bank's shareholders who want it to make income over serving clients.

Why should I choose a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA)?

What are the differences between RIAs and RR Broker Dealers?

The differences between what an RIA can provide compared to a typical investment broker dealer (registered representative) are significant.

RIAs

  • Fiduciary Responsibility: Required to act as fiduciaries, RIAs must always put their clients’ interest above their own. They must declare any potential conflict of interest that may arise.
  • Conflict-free Advice: RIAs are compensated by fee for advice given.

RR Brokers

  • Suitability: RR brokers are only required legally to recommend investments that are “suitable” at the time of purchase for the client. They have no fiduciary responsibility to disclose that the recommendation was in the best interest of the client.
  • Commission-based Transaction: A RR broker is compensated by commissions of products sold.
